Susan Mernit, ED of the Crucible

Glynn Washington is the Host & Executive Producer of Snap Judgement, the radio / podcast / stage / television show distributed by WNYC. Before creating Snap Judgment, Glynn worked as an educator, diplomat, community activist, actor, political strategist, fist-shaker, mountain-hollerer, and foot stomper. Glynn composed music for the Kunst Stoff dance performances in San Francisco, rocked live spoken word poetry in Detroit, joined a band in Indonesia, wrote several screenplays, painted a daring series of self portraits, released a blues album, and thinks his stories are best served with cocktails.
The Crucible welcomes new Executive Director Susan Mernit, who for many years has led tech, community and arts organizations and initiatives in the Bay Area, Board President Warren Breslau has announced. Mernit’s appointment culminates a national search and she replaces Interim Executive Director Alex Zwissler. Mernit’s experience and leadership roles have bridged the tech industry including AOL, Netscape, and Yahoo! and innovative, community nonprofit entrepreneurship, including Oakland-based tech inclusion nonprofit Hack the Hood, and her earlier local media project, Oakland Local. As Mernit joins The Crucible at the end of July, she will become a member of Hack the Hood’s Board of Directors, stepping down as CEO.
