Barry will speak about The Carter Center, founded in 1982 by President Jimmy Carter to help build democracies around the world and eradicate five tropical diseases. Most notably, The Carter Center is responsible for reducing the number of cases of Guinea worm throughout the world from 3.5 million in 1986 to 10 today. In addition, The Carter Center has monitored 105 elections worldwide and has brokered peace treaties through its Center for Conflict Resolution.
