Bob Melvin is one of baseball’s most highly respected managers. He has served as a Major League manager for thirteen seasons and came to the Oakland Athletics over six years ago. In 2012, Melvin was named AL Manager of the Year by the Baseball Writers Association of America. He has led the A's to three postseason appearances.  Melvin played baseball as a catcher for ten years in the Major League. A Bay Area native, Melvin graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School in Menlo Park, Calif. in 1979 and later attended and played baseball at the University of California in Berkeley.
