Suzanne Weirtheim - Eliminating Bias and Unfairness in the Workplace

THURSDAY LUNCHEON SPEAKER

Thursday, May 24th, 2018 - 12:10pm to 1:30pm

Dr. Suzanne Wertheim founded Worthwhile Research & Consulting as a venue for linguistic anthropologists to address both academic and real-world problems. In addition to teaching thousands of students at UC Berkeley and UCLA, she has been an invited and keynote speaker around the United States and in Europe, presenting research on language and bias, language and gender, and anthropology and artificial intelligence. In her Diversity & Inclusion consulting practice, Dr. Wertheim develops and gives workshops on bias and unfairness in the workplace. This includes doing “culture audits,” where she helps companies locate the “bias hotspots” that drive employees away or open the door to discrimination and harassment lawsuits. Dr. Wertheim also consults with and trains lawyers and judges on ways to identify and address bias in the legal context.
