Casper Cendre - Co-Founder of ABO Comix and No Walls Collective

THURSDAY LUNCHEON SPEAKER

Thursday, June 7th, 2018 - 12:10pm to 1:30pm

Casper Cendre has dedicated his life to the restoring of dignity and human rights of incarcerated people. As a co-founder of ABO Comix and No Walls Collective, he mentors incarcerated LGBTQIAA writers and artists in expressing their lived struggle to the outside world. Casper’s publishing experience as a former editor for the Pacific Review enables the works of the writers and artists he collaborates with to move in mediums that would have otherwise overlooked them. From 2016 to 2018, Casper organized around several issues relating to the quality of life for LGBTQIAA and HIV+ incarcerated people; this has included raising money for commissary funds and petitioning the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for policy changes that would preserve the bodily and sexual consent of transgender prisoners during strip searches. Casper lives in Oakland and is currently pursuing funding for another anthology of queer prisoner comics
