26- Mile Ride Across Carquinez and Benecia Bridges
High Adventure Bike ride
Come join us for a scenic bike ride that includes a gentle climb through East Bay hills, cycling across both the Carquinez and Benecia bridges, and a visit to ‘historic’ downtown Benecia.
Parking at the Park and Ride at the intersection of Alhambra Avenue and Franklin Canyon Road in Martinez. This ride starts at the base of Franklin Canyon Road and proceeds up the gentle and scenic climb to Cummins Skyway. From there, we pedal Northwest along the ridge on the broad shoulder of the skyway to Crockett Blvd. We descend Crockett Blvd into Crockett and then get on the Carquinez bridge bike path that starts at the Dead Fish restaurant and cycle across the bridge to Vallejo. We roll through Vallejo, and then pick up the bike path through the Benecia State Recreational. Area. From there it is a short way to downtown Benecia, where we make a leisurely stop to refuel at the Java Café on 1st Street. Upon leaving the café, we ride up past the old Benecia Military base, onto the Benecia bridge bike path and back to Martinez.
The ride is 26 miles with 1500 ft of ascent.
Parking is available at the Park and Ride at the intersection of Franklin Canyon Rd and Alhambra Ave.
Please let me know if you plan to ride.
