Join President Gudrun to celebrate the 85th Anniversary of Tilden Regional Park and the beginning of the East Bay Regional Park District. This is also the 50th Anniversary of the East Bay Regional Parks Foundation. Tilden is located in Berkeley, Oakland and Orinda. Explore and experience this Bay Area treasure!
Where: Tilden Park Steam Trains, meet at the Seaview Trail parking lot, on the right, just beyond the Steam Trains parking lot. The Steam Trains are just off of Grizzly Peak Blvd, at the Oakland end of the park.
Directions: From Highway 24: take Fish Ranch Road to Grizzly Peak Blvd., turn right (north) on to Grizzly Peak Blvd., the turn for the Steam Trains will be on your right. From Oakland-Berkeley: take Claremont Ave. to Grizzly Peak Blvd., turn left (north) on to Grizzly Peak Blvd., the turn for the Steam Trains will be on your right.
What: Hike the Seaview Trail, enjoy amazing views to the west, across the bay, and to the east, Mt. Diablo and beyond! There are many hiking options for all hiking abilities. The first approximately ½ mile or so is paved, for hikers who prefer a smooth even surface. Hikers can choose their distance, do an out and back on the Seaview Trail. There is also the beautiful Seaview Quarry Loop, approximately 6 miles, with more elevation gain. There is something for everyone. Dogs on leash are welcome.
