High Adventure Monthly Hike

MOUNT DIABLO STATE PARK HIKE ,  Cancelled

Sunday, May 16th, 2021 - 1:00am to 1:05am

This Event has been cancelled

STATE PARK, MACEDO RANCH STAGING AREA.  For map and brochure go to Mt  Diable website.

The Macedo Ranch Staging Area is 30 quick minutes from Oakland. Take Highway 24 to Highway 680 southbound, then head south on Highway 680.  Exit Highway 680 at Stone Valley Road; follow Stone Valley Road in the direction of Mt. Diablo.  Turn turn left off of Stone Valley Road onto Green Valley Road.  Green Valley Road dead-ends at the Macedo Ranch Staging Area.  Plenty of parking.

Bring $6.00 cash or check per car ($5.00 if you’re 65+) to deposit into an unmanned park-fee-box.  Approximate length of hike: 3.8 miles. Approximate duration of hike: 2.5 hours.

Degree of difficulty:  This will be a moderate hike, covering 3.8 miles in 2.5 hours, on the southwestern flank of Mt. Diablo.  From the Macedo Ranch Staging area, we will walk to the Stage Road trail (constructed in 1874 to accommodate tourists from Walnut Creek); at the western boundary of the State Park, we will double back on the Little Yosemite Trail (NB: while this “Little Yosemite” has its charms, it is somewhat less impressive that the “Little Yosemite” that we visited in Sunol Regional Park last year).

Dogs?:  Sorry -- no dogs allowed on this trail.
