Hike June-19th Pt Pinole Reginal Shoreline

Saturday, June 19th, 2021 - 8:30am to 12:30pm

When.  Meet at the "Giant Highway Staging Area" between 8:30 AM and 9:000 AM on Saturday, June 19, 2021.  Note: do not go to the "Atlas Road Staging Area".  Our walk through the Pt. Pinole Regional Shoreline will depart the Giant Highway Staging Area at 9:00 AM.

 

Fees.  Be prepared to pay $3.00 per car and $2.00 per dog.  (Max three dogs per person; bring leashes.)

 

What to expect.  Pt. Pinole Regional Shoreline is comprised of 2,400 acres accessed by generally flat walking trails.  For almost 100 years, the park was the site of dynamite manufacturing.  Views of San Pablo Bay, Mt. Tamalpais and the Marin County shoreline.  Our walk will take us from the Giant Highway Staging Area through eucalyptus woodlands out to the fishing pier at the tip of Pt. Pinole, then back along the west side of the point.  Bring your own snacks, coffee, etc.  Total distance: +/- four miles.      

 

To reach Point Pinole Regional Shoreline.  We will meet at the "Giant Highway Staging Area" .(Note, we will not meet at the Atlas Road Staging Area").  From Highway I-80 in Richmond, take the Richmond Parkway exit and go west towards the Bay.  Cross San Pablo Avenue, and then turn right onto the Giant Highway exit.  The park entrance will be ahead on the left, past the railroad tracks.  Distance from Highway 80 to Giant Highway staging area is about 3.25 miles.  From I-580 east of the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge, exit at Richmond Parkway/Castro Street and go north for approximately 5 miles.  Exit at Giant Highway and turn right.  Park entrance will be on the left, past the railroad tracks.  

Covid restrictions.  Restrictions -- Non vacinated need to wear masks
