CIVIC THURSDAY SPEAKER - David Montejano: North-South Commerce during American Civil War.
David Montenejo is Professor Emeritus of Ethnic Studies and History at U.C. Berkeley. His published works include studies of Anglos and Mexicans in the making of Texas, the history of the Chicano Movements, and the emergence of the politics of the Brown Berets. On March 31, Professor Montenejo will discuss one of his current projects: the study of merchants -- both North and South -- who engaged in treasonous -- but highly profitable -- trade with the enemy during the Civil War.
