Rotary Club of Oakland Civic Luncheon Meeting, April 29, 2021

President Ces Butner called the 5,337th Civic Thursday meeting of the Oakland Rotary Club to order at 12:31 p.m. As the 3rd oldest club with over 300 men and women mem24bers, we have been meeting for over 111 years.

Rotarian Stephanie Casenza shared the thought of the day by mentioning a comment from the supreme court chief Earl Warren from in 1959 "the police must obey the law while enforcing the law; that in the end life and liberty can be as much endangered from illegal methods used to convict those thought to be criminals as from the actual criminals themselves."

Rotarian Renea Webb introduced this week's Civic Thursday Speaker 'LeRonne Armstrong - Oakland Police Chief'. Mr. Armstrong has bravely served Oakland on the police force for 22 years and counting. He shared the status of public safety and Public Safety Reform in Oakland.

Oakland Rotary Endowment president Mike Mowry called to order the annual meeting to vote on new trustees. ORE trustees elected for therm beginning from July 1st, 2021 are Ken Benson, CJ Hirschfield, Kim Johnson, and Ruth Stroup.
