Civic Thursday Meeting - Fania Davis - Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth

Thursday, November 18th, 2021 - 12:30pm to 1:30pm

Dr. Fania Davis is a leading national voice on restorative justice, a quickly emerging field which invites a fundamental shift in the way we think about and do justice. Restorative Justice is based on a desired set of principles and practices to mediate conflict, strengthen community and repair harm. She is a long-time social justice activist, Civil Rights trial attorney, restorative justice practitioner, writer, and scholar with a PhD in Indigenous Knowledge.  She is the creator of Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth (RJOY) and the author of "The Little Book of Race and Restorative Justice." In her work, Dr. Davis advocates a justice that seeks not to punish, but to heal. Dr. Davis is a compelling speaker, on among the most important issues of our time.
