Service Day - Alameda County Food Bank

Saturday, May 18th, 2024 - 8:30am to 12:00pm

Join your fellow Rotarians and guests for a busy Service Day at the Alameda County Food Bank.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE:

Organizing carpools is highly recommended.

Shoes that cover your entire foot are required, preferably sneakers or boots.

Appropriate clothing should be worn for your volunteer shift - limited jewelry, no perfume/cologne, and comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty.

Dressing in layers is recommended since our warehouse is not climate-controlled. This also means that the air quality outside will affect the air quality in the warehouse - please be aware of this if you have respiratory sensitivities.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of sturdy, reusable work gloves.

Youth (ages 10-17) must have the Waiver Form signed by a parent/legal guardian – if it wasn’t completed during the sign-up process, it can be printed here and brought to the shift. One adult volunteer must be present for every five youths.

DAY-OF INSTRUCTIONS:

DO NOT volunteer if you're experiencing any signs of illness.

Plan to arrive around 10 minutes before the shift begins for check-in.

Pack a lunch or snacks! We recommend packing a lunchbox with an ice pack. We also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle.

Leave personal belongings safely secured in your car (purse, earphones, backpacks). We also have limited locker availability in our warehouse.

Frequent hand-washing of at least 20 seconds is required before starting work, at the start and end of all breaks including lunch, and when leaving at the end of the day.

If you need to cancel a shift, please follow this link (https://www.accfb.org/get-involved/volunteer-info/). From there you’ll enter your first name, last name, and email address, which will generate an email (check your junk inbox if it doesn’t arrive shortly).

That email contains a link to our new volunteer portal – where you can see the hours you’ve completed with us, find your upcoming shifts, and cancel those you’re not able to attend. We recommend bookmarking the link, though you can always enter your information again to get a new email sent to you.
