THURSDAY LUNCHEON SPEAKER - Katie McKnight, San Francisco Estuary Institute
Katie McKnight is an Associate Environmental Scientist from the San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI) located in Richmond, CA. SFEI was established in 1993 to provide sound, objective science for decision-making to resource agencies and policy-makers managing the health of the San Francisco Estuary. Today SFEI has expanded with 60+ staff into a regional research hub that engages citizens and government in innovative science and technology to define and resolve complex environmental challenges, to envision a California where people and nature thrive.
Katie joined SFEI’s Resilient Landscapes Team in 2016. Her work focuses on applied science projects relating to ecosystem restoration, climate change adaptation, and water and sediment management. Katie earned her Master of Landscape Architecture in Environmental Planning from UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design. Originally from North Carolina, Katie received her B.S. in Environmental Science and Agroecology from North Carolina State University. She received a Rotary scholarship from her local chapter of Rotary International located in southeastern NC, which supported her throughout all four years of her undergraduate studies.
