Joaquin Miller Park - Tour and History Hike
The first hike of 2024 will be at Joaquin Miller Park and will be lead by Dale Risden Chair of Friends of Jaquin Miller Park. Dale will be joined by Amelia Marshall, an Oakland Historian, and will share Park History, Momument History, Fire prevention, and areas of concern, and success.
We will meet at Joaquin Miller Abbey, at the corner of Joaquin Miller Rd. and lower Sanborn. (Photo Attached). Two blocks on left on JMP Rd. Just below Butters Dr., on right. The (Large yellow gate adjacent).
Bring good walking shoes, a hat, water. We do have to walk up hill, but all pavement. We will be doing a loopJoaquin Miller Park is a real gem in our community. For those that have not been you will quickly forget that you are minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Hikers, equestrians, bicyclists, joggers and picnickers from all over the Bay Area regularly frequent the 500-acre park. The rustic woodland trails lead you through redwood groves and oak woodlands and across lush creeksides and wet meadows. Dogs are allowed - on leash - throughout the park and a fenced off-leash dog areas for both large and small dogs is available on park property.
