Rotary Club of Oakland Civic Luncheon Meeting, March 4, 2021

President Ces Butner called our Civic Thursday Zoom meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. noting this is the 5,330th meeting in our 111-year-old Club and invited us to recite our vision statement.

Rotarian Kymberly Miller shared a nice poem by Amanda Gorman as the Thought For The Day and dedicated it to International Women's Day.

Today we began our celebration of International Women's Day and Women's month. To commemorate this occasion, President Ces invited a trio of women to announce the various aspects of our club. Rotarian Kymberly Miller, Shannon Hackley, and Tristan Connor highlighted different community work supported and executed by the Rotary Club of Oakland.

Rotarian and our communication chair, Isaac Kos-Read introduced today's Civic Thursday Speaker Adam Tobin. Our guest is the Executive Director of Chabot Space and Science Center. Building on its 137-year history in Oakland, Chabot Space & Science Center is launching innovative, new models for STEM education. Adam discussed Chabot’s bold vision to set the stage for inspiration and opportunity for all of Oakland's youth.
